home desktop computers
I've got remote desktop running between the two computers when I'm at home, but is there a way to connect to my home computer when I'm not home? I don't want to spend any money on remote access software.
Home Computer: Windows XP Pro, connected wirelessly (linksys wireless router, which is connected to the cable modem).
Laptop: Windows Vista Business, also wireless (obviously).
Yes, of course you can do it. All you have to do is to set-up your router to forward the port used by the remote desktop from the router, which receives the request from the internet, going to your desktop at home. The port is 3389. You may want to change this port to whatever you want for security purposes. You can setup your router to allocate port like 9833 then forward the it to your desktop on port 3389.
Lastly, you must know your public IP address. If you have a dynamic IP address (IP address that changes whenever you restart your modem) then go to www.no-ip.com, they'll help you with your problem at no cost.

It's not possible unless both computers are networked.
Better copy it on a floppy or CD. Else upload it to the internet from the source PC and download it into your PC.

Is it a splitter of some sort? I know printer sharing settings must be set but how do you physically hook up two computers? Thank you for responding.
i agree with uncleben that you should connect the serial ports from both computers

i have an xp desktop and a vista desktop, and i have a Canon PIXMA MP150 printer connected to the xp desktop via usb. is there any way that i can connect this printer to both computers for them to both work with the printer?
If you already have a network set up so that both desktops share the same internet connection it will be easy.
Install the drivers (if not already done on the XP system). Make sure you enable “printer sharing” in the properties of the drivers (Start | Control Panel | Printers and faxes| Right mouse click on the Pixma| Click on Properties | Sharing Tab | Click on Share this printer and create a name for the printer. Then Apply and OK.
Now download the Vista drivers for the printer.
If you go on to Canon’s website (click on the link) and click on the Support tab and type in “network printing” it will show you how to set it up (it has specific instructions for one XP and one Vista system)

pcs desktops
Hoping to edit videos from my HD camcorder, but as yet I can only find laptops with a HDMi port. Any news on when Dell etc will bring out a HDMi desktop?
You could just go out and buy an ATI HD Pro graphics card. Some of the higher end ones have HDMi ports.

help my pcs work, but when i try 2 get a wireless connection it says cant configure network. i know the wireless router works cause my other pcs do, any help would b extremely appreciated!
Has the wireless internet ever worked?
It sounds like your laptop is not getting the signal at all, so it is most likely that the wireless card is turned off.
There is usually a slide switch on your laptop (I have a Dell and mine is on the right hand-side for example) which is sometimes set to ‘off’ as default in the factory. Simply moving this switch should turn the wireless card on.

I'm trying to access my network that is about 2 blocks away.
What I am looking for is a wireless card that can pick up the wireless signal over a distance of 2 city blocks away. I have tried something called super G and also super G+, and neither one was strong enough to pick up the network. I can pick up the network on my notebook when I walk just outside my door, but it is gone for 2-3 weeks having the system board replaced (for the 3rd time).
All sorts of options here.
linksys, Netgear, US Robotics, and don't forget about the USB options.
These all work just fine.
