What are the best virtual memory settings for my home desktop computer?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: home desktop computers

I own a Dell Desktop I bought in 2004. My operating system is Microsoft Windows XP Pro Version 2002 with Service Pack 3.

Intel {R}
Pentium{R} 4 CPU 2.66GHz, 512MB of RAM

I dunno. My last PC used to bug me about virtual memory. I threw a stick of ram in it, and that stopped that. It came with 128mb, and I added 1GB. Boot up was then 5 times as fast, and it surfed the web faster. This website is the absolute best to buy memory from for all the right reasons — price, quality, etc:

You should add 1 GB if you can afford it, or 512 would be alright. There are two slots. The slot on the left always has the biggest ram. So if you get 512, just put it in the empty right slot. If you get 1 GB, move your old ram over to the right and put the new, bigger one in the left.

Chemistry.com gives you much more of a chance to find chemistry with someone who will match with you and your personality and has a hugely successful matching rate. When you use this link, you get 25% off your entire membership. Doesn't get moxier than that. In tech news, the war of words began this morning when a blogger from ZDNet.com (owned by CNET and CBS) claimed they've uncovered Yahoo.com's deepest and darkest secrets. An inside source (in Iran) of the blogger claimed he had proof that Yahoo sold over 200,000 Iranian accounts to the Iran government during the fighting and botched elections which sparked massive protests, unfair jailing and torturing as well as death. ZDnet's blogger claimed he knew that if all pans out, this would be the ing news that would literally put Yahoo out of business since this would most definitely be …

If a Mac and a PC are sharing the same network, which computer would have better internet connection?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: pc desktop computers

My boyfriend is a PC, and I’m a Mac. So we got into a little debate about what computers we’d get when we’re living together, and I claimed that I would have a laptop and it would be a Mac. He wants PC desktop computer, and he claims that "my Mac and his PC would be in a duel to the death over internet, and he’d win." So I’m not sure if they’d be able to work smoothly online on the same network? Thoughts, please!

Depends on the network card they’re packing. Maybe, one machine is configured to receive standard N or standard G and one is configured for standard B. I know for, a fact, that Macs are easier to configure to internet connections. They have no problems finding and connecting to networks (especially in comparison to Windows XP machines, but Vista and Windows 7 machines are on par with them.)

how do i make two desktop computers print to a printer via wireless?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: printer computers

I have an HP Officejet Pro L7780 all in on printer and two desktop computers that are set up to only print by being physically connected to it. The printer can receive prints wireless by laptop and another desktop computer we have can print wireless. how do i set up the other two computers to print wireless?

The first thing you will need is a wireless computer with a wireless network card included. If your computer doesn’t have a wireless network card, you can buy one at any computer store.

The next thing you will need is a router. You need to make sure that both your computer’s wireless network and the router are 802.11 compliant. There is 802.11b (standard) and also 802.11g (if you are printing a large amount of pages). D-Link and Linksys are two companies (of many) that make wireless routers. Now you need to setup your wireless router to your computer. D-link software usually will help you with this process.

Once your computer recognizes your wireless router you are ready to go. The next thing you will need is a wireless printer. I have the Lexmark X4550. Is it a very good printer, copier and scanner. The setup is very easy as well.

Once your printer software is installed onto your computer, do the following:
XP/VISTA DIRECTIONS
1. Start
2. Control panel
3. Go to hardware and sound —-> printers (just printers in XP)
4. On the toolbar click add a printer
5. Click the box, Add a network, wireless or bluetooth printer.
6. Finally your computer will search for the printer and you can then click on it and you are done.
