What are the best virtual memory settings for my home desktop computer?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: home desktop computers

I own a Dell Desktop I bought in 2004. My operating system is Microsoft Windows XP Pro Version 2002 with Service Pack 3.

Intel {R}
Pentium{R} 4 CPU 2.66GHz, 512MB of RAM

I dunno. My last PC used to bug me about virtual memory. I threw a stick of ram in it, and that stopped that. It came with 128mb, and I added 1GB. Boot up was then 5 times as fast, and it surfed the web faster. This website is the absolute best to buy memory from for all the right reasons — price, quality, etc:

You should add 1 GB if you can afford it, or 512 would be alright. There are two slots. The slot on the left always has the biggest ram. So if you get 512, just put it in the empty right slot. If you get 1 GB, move your old ram over to the right and put the new, bigger one in the left.
