Hey man I have the … Hey man I have the exact same problem. I am 3 months out of warranty and Gateway refuses to allow me to ship it into them for repair at my expense. If you find any addition info about how to fix this problem send me a message, I’ll do the same for you.
It only take a … It only take a buyer to buy only one gateway to learn a life-long lesson! Gateway does not support their customers! Don’t even start with their quality!
I logged a BBB … I logged a BBB compliant and I got the following response from Gateway:
1) Restate that its off warranty
2) Provided me a name of 3rd party vendor that they said would repair the monitor for a fee. I told them that this is the same vendor that they provided me in March and that if you call this vendor (Mondo) they will not work on Gateway LCDs.
3) They told me I should have bought an extended warranty, Going to their own website you don’t even have the ability to buy an extended warranty.
my fpd 2185 gateway … my fpd 2185 gateway died a couple days ago. Blue power button comes on bright when first plugged in…then immediatley goes dim. It won’t power on..or even off. I’ve had it for a little over two years. I was pretty heartbroke…can’ t imagine this feller’s pain!!
I have the same … I have the same problem with my gateway monitor..i brought it with a one yr warrenty and it last only 1yr 1mth with the same screen problem this guy is having…i guess that how their do at gateway…cheap product..
it greed gateway … it greed gateway and o most any auther
company are a hurd of pigs this days thay give you cheep garbage made not in the us that brakes after the sicking short warranty is gone so your have to buy more that puts money in some one pockit
that did not rightfuly eurn it whats even more degrading is how customer service gives you the runa round to slam you off the phone and out of the work
I am actually going … I am actually going to contact corporate and see what they have to say!! Looks like they are nothing but “Brokers” for Chinese products. Put their own brand and sell and then no warranty. Mind you Gateway is now owned by Acer – which is a Taiwanese Company!
Your problem is similar to mine – its the controller board thats bust! What anawful product!
I have had the same … I have had the same experience with the XHD3000 this week- Same flickering lines and same crap customer service! They made a mistake and made me ship it to them then they shipped it back to me and said they would not repair it since its out of warranty. What a bunch of losers! I’ll make sure I’ll post them everywhere on the net and also post the ling to this video!!!
I would still avoid … I would still avoid it due to the hassle factor of returning it, shipping, waiting, and arguing over the warranty. They aren’t consumer friendly. The picture/color quality was good on it, nothing noticeable about the input lag, I got blackouts all the time. A family member has the same monitor and they also get blackouts frequently. The buttons don’t work well on the front of it for them also. Look at the new dell. With internet coupons you can get the price down.
The end of the … The end of the story on this one is that the only place willing to fix it was going to charge $375 to fix it, with a 30 day warranty. That price is a little to steep when something else could go wrong with it quickly. So I believe I’m out my money on this. Gateway will never get a single penny from me again, after being a loyal customer for years.
The one I purchased … The one I purchased was a refurnished model at half the price of it’s original price and it seems ok so far. I hope I don’t have this issue later on, knock on wood.
The mid-april 2009 … The mid-april 2009 update is that the place that I originally bought it from “accepted” it for repair for $89 (just to look at it, not the full repair), but they have had it for 3 weeks without any updates from them. I’m tolerating that for now since I don’t have any other option.
Just a quick update … Just a quick update on this:
1) Gateway still firmly refuses to even accept this monitor for paid repair.
2) Best Buy also won’t accept this monitor for paid repair, from anyone.
i have one of them, … i have one of them, have had it for 6-7 months, and once and awhile i see a couple green lines is in it, but as soon as i close that window it goes away, but so far is hasn’t done it with my xbox

Thanks for your response. Since no 30″s except this Gateway met my basic requirements, I’ll have to go with a 24″.
[ I can't stand 'High-Color Gamut' that all other 30" monitors have ]
Anyways, thanks.

Hey sorry that it …
Hey sorry that it died on you.
But I have some questions about when it was working:
Did you like it?
High input lag?
Did you get the blackouts that some people got?
I plan on buying 2 years of additional warranty for $100.
Sorry that you had to have that happen
