Power Question For PC Desktop Computers?
I have a desktop, and my house is really crappy, and very often we lose power, and have to flip the breaker to turn the power back on on that side of the house….
Well I was just wondering that if the power went out, while the computer was turned on, and you had to flip the breaker to get it back on, if it would harm the computer? It is plugged into a power strip, among other things… But yea, would it harm the computer?
If it does harm the computer, what would it harm? I heard that it could corrupt your data, sometimes ruint hardware, and even corrupt your operating system, or not allowing your computer to boot up. Are these true? Thanks in advance for your answers…
It quite possibly could if you have no surge protection on it. As far as your initially breaker problem, you have a fault in your house wiring. Most likely too much crap on one circuit. You need to look into this. A good electrician may be able to help you quite cheaply as he may be able to re-route some of the circuits in the breaker panel.

I would suggest using two more devices to prevent any mishaps. They are "Spike" and "UPS"
Spike helps in breaking the connection if there is any voltage upsurge there by stopping the power reaching your system.
UPS helps when the power goes abruptly and you need to run and turn on the breaker.
Power surges usually fry the system. Yes, they fry the system. Like your mother board might get burnt, processor gets fried, hard disk sometimes goes out of the window.
So from Spike you set up a connection to UPS and from UPS you setup CPU. Do not connect monitor to UPS, connect it to spike.
Monitor drains UPS very quickly.

Yes it can cause some issues with your hard drive – loose unsaved data which you worked on. But these days you have file systems which are able to recover. It should not damage other hardware then HDD. Buy a UPS power strip which will provide a sufficient power for your computer (5min) that you can save your work and turn it off correctly.
Wiring of your apt, house is not done properly that’s a sure thing.
