Do USB wifi adapters work on desktop PCs?
Whats the best model to buy?
I dont know if different models have different internet speeds from one another?
Are they as good as, say a Linksys wireless adapter?
Are they fast enough to use internet sites, chat live, play computer games and stream movies?
Of course, any USB wi-fi adapter will work in any PC with a USB slot to put it in. However, most people don’t use USB adapters on desktops because they’re both more expensive and have a harder time picking up signals that are far away. It’s better to use a PCI wi-fi adapter in a desktop computer.
Any brand of adapter will work fine, with D-Link and Linksys being the most common.
For anything besides gaming, a wireless connection will be sufficient. It’s not recommended for gaming because of the slight "lag" (delay between the router and your PC) that a wireless connection implies, so if you’re gaming, it’s best to plug it in.

Yes, they do. However they are limited by their USB standard, so I don’t recommend it if you only have USB 1.1. Only use USB 2.0 wireless adaptors if you can at all times. As for models, stick with Linksys, Dlink, Netgear and Belkin, you won’t go wrong.
